Match the wire or cable application
Start with the wire construction and the applicable specification. This is an insulation material inquiry route; a cable voltage designation does not establish a measured dielectric result or finished-wire approval. Keep raw compound checks, insulated-specimen tests and finished-wire tests separate.
Prepare the material brief
- Wire or cable type, conductor size, insulation thickness and target market.
- The named standard and clause, specimen geometry, conditioning and acceptance limits for the electrical tests.
- Current compound, extrusion equipment, line settings and the issue to investigate.
- Color and hardness targets, trial quantity, expected demand, destination and required documents.
Agree the sample decision
- Agree what is being tested
Identify the material lot, test object, method and acceptance criteria before preparing a sample.
- Record the controlled trial
Keep the conductor, insulation thickness and line conditions with the sample record. Compare the result under agreed conditions.
- Review before production
Review the available test records and processing feedback. Confirm the production specification and the shipment checks separately.
Documents to review
Ask for the current TDS status and identify which entries are development targets. A batch COA needs actual results for the named lot. An empty COA template is not a test report. An official SDS, third-party report or certification statement is offered only after the applicable original document and scope have been reviewed.
Purchasing questions
Does the voltage in the application replace testing?
No. The relevant wire construction, standard and test evidence must be confirmed. No electrical pass is inferred from the product name.
Can I use a jacket compound as insulation?
Do not treat the two inquiry routes as interchangeable. State the layer and electrical requirements so the sample and tests can be reviewed.
What if I do not have a complete specification?
Send a drawing or current sample and explain the intended wire and market. Missing test requirements must be clarified before agreeing an acceptance result.
